Food Festival Network
Please consult the attached Functional Specification for comprehensive
requirements, as well as details on the major use cases.
We are creating a web property that will be a directory of Nationwide (USA) Food Festivals that users can use to not only search for said festivals to share them with friends or follow them for updates, but also review them.
The directory will be initially populated with a significant amount of Food Festivals entries to jump-start use, but the intention is that the majority of future entries will be crowdsourced by users.
The current scope of this site is to cover the following festival types:
- General BBQ
The major functionality required is as follows:
- User Registration w/ Facebook Connect as an option
- User Event Reviews
- Event Following
- Sharing Events (twitter, facebook, etc)
- Adding Event to a Calendar (google calendar, ical, etc)
- Owner Registration
- Owner Event Info Editing
We are targeting mature, but lively and outgoing, 'foodie' adults ages 35-54
We are aiming for the theme of the site to be informative in nature, but not too formal or stuffy, as the focus is on food and entertainment after all.
Though, considering our demographic, it should look and feel more mature.
(Please use the attached logo as a guide.)
The revenue model is on-site advertising, so space for vertical right/left rail banners (above the fold) and/or horizontal banners accompanying the header and footer, MUST be accounted for in the design.
In addition, as our Primary Use Case (see attached spec) relies solely on our site being visited due to event pages coming up in searches for Food Festivals, designs optimized for strong SEO implementation are ABSOLUTELY necessary.
Other General Design Requirements:
- Create mockups with simplistic, minimal layouts
- Use a lot of white space
- Use color primarily to draw attention to major functionality (please refer to attached final logo for inspiration)
- Create cluttered and busy layouts
- Use many colors
- Copy Yelp or Quora
We will require a layered PSD file as the final product (RGB).
We do not mind if you use stock images, but please make sure you declare them if so.
The comprehensive requirements of each page are explained in full detail (aka, more than can fit in this space) in the attached Functional Specification under the 'Functional Requirements' section.
We will require the design of 2 main pages:
- a Homepage
- a Festival Entry Page
The third page will be a generic template for all remaining pages (eg. 'Account Information', 'Contact Us', 'About Us', 'Terms and Conditions', etc)
It should essentially be the Festival Entry Page with its 'guts' removed (main page content), leaving a template that has a header, footer, a left/right rail, and required ad space.
Any modules specific to the Food Festival Entry Page in either the header, footer or left/right rail should be replaced with generic placeholders.
