About LTM –The goal of ListsThatMatter.com is to organize and present information and content about any imaginable subject/topic in forms of lists. Users will be able to open accounts and create lists on any topic they believe can be useful to them and other users. Apart from basic functionality of list creation, they will be able to do other things like rate, share, book mark, subscribe to, and save lists of other users.
The site will facilitate and encourage users to create lists on any topic they want.
This website will be structured in a directory format.
Process – Users will typically go through following process to create lists – Navigate through the directory structure to find the most appropriate category for their list. (this can begin by creating “create a list†button on the home page)When they get to the appropriate page, they click on “Create a list in this category†and they will be directed to list creation process. Â
Here are the value propositions for creating more lists –
a) The list creator is given credit for the list. This can include contact info.Â
b)Website will share advertising revenue with the list creators. So, if more lists are created and viewed by users, the owner/creator of the list will make more money. Â
Design specs - We are looking for a clean and community oriented Information Architecture and visual design for a user generated content driven site. We already have a logo for the site and vector file will be provided to the designers. Site design needs to be clean, professional and be inviting users to explore and create lists. A Web 2.0 look and feel preferred.
Design also needs to highlight the revenue sharing aspect of the site for the list creators.  Idea is related to but quite different from following sites at the same time. PLEASE NOTE HOWEVER, none of these designs are what we are looking for. Please DO NOT copy any part of them –
Home page – Design should highlight features and functionalities of the site; prompt users to take tour and register with site to create lists.  Design also needs to account for cross referencing the content categories such as – Most viewed, top rated, most popular etc. We are open to ideas and creativity around color scheme, layout and other user experience aspects of the site.  Along with getting people to create lists, design also needs to engage people into reading and exploring lists. A search box must be included in the design of the homepage. Users will be able to do a search on any topic and view lists associated with that topic.  Also, design needs to account for usual sections on the home page (Featured, active lists (most viewed, emailed, shared etc), sign up area (not the complete form but button etc). Lower part of the home page should contain directory structure/ links (similar to http://www.guru.com, just with lesser categories in directory).  We believe this project not only requires aesthetic skills but also need strong information architect (IA) skills to layout various aspects of the home page.  We will be actively involved in giving prompt feedback to help you match your designs to our expectations and win the contest. Good Luck!
