UPDATE - We asked for a couple of designs to include some black and white portions to complement their particular design. I think some designers have taken that a bit to far and assumed we ONLY want black and white images/design. Some of the recent submissions have been a little "drab".
We are looking for a fairly simple/straight forward design for our business website. It has two primary purposes, one it is to provide information to visitors and the other we often have online forms to gather information (think of a sign up page). I was/am a part-time web programmer so I manage the websites database, programming requirements. However I am a graphically challenged and visually retarded.. yes my wife has to dress me.. So I need the help of talented people.
We already have a logo we have used for several years so need to incorporate that. You are welcome to look at our old webpage but take note that much of what you see is being restructured and replaced.
There will be two pages designed - I have given you a HEAP of information in the full brief including a design guide that my wife I can see working. You are welcome to submit other layouts also.
My wife or I will be making comments on submissions (Hamish or Kerri)
Duff Recruitment - http://www.duffrecruitment.com.au
The contest is for the design of the website and the final result being delivered as some form of vector based design file (i.e. PSD). I am looking for a home page/front page plus one internal page.
As stated I prefer a clean/simple design, included in the specifications is a sample form, it's important that you design the form layout also. The sample form being part of my MS Paint image - you can include what you want in the form, most elements in forms I use are textboxes/textareas/checkboxes/form buttons.
When designing the form layout and other elements such as internal links take into account that it will be transferred into HTML/CSS and that I want all text elements in text, not as part of images. For instance if I need to change the text on a link or button I don't want to have to load up a graphics program or contact a graphics artist. So when designing the website use realistic fonts found on web pages so when it comes to cutting and coding to CSS/HTML it looks very similar. Below you will find there are four main sections to the website - I don't mind if you use fancy fonts/colours etc for the images/buttons/links into these internal sections as they are relatively fix.
I have included links to a copy of our logo and PSD files for you to use. See them logo shrunk.jpg 300dpiJPG.jpg 300dpiPSD.psd .
Main structure of the website.
We are redeveloping our current website at http://www.duffrecruitment.com.au. We will be making significant changes to the current content.
There will be four primary content areas (Home page tile - Internal page tile). I made the internal page titles smaller to save space as this may be a consideration for you.
- Reference Checking Services - Reference Checks
- Flexible Recruitment Services - Recruitment Services
- Looking for Work - Looking for Work
Each of the four main sections will also have internal subpages to there sections. i.e. I click into AQIS from the home page, then there will be an additional submenu with the AQIS relevant links.
We would like two pages designed.
Home Page/Front Page:
Text elements on the front page will also include a quote about Duff Recruitments services. Assume about 50-80 words at this stage. So it can also be in a large font. We would also like to include 1 or 2 client testimonials about our services. This will include their logo, name of company contact and a short quote 30-40 words (Probably in quotes and italic?). These quotes will rotate so a little bit of flexibility in image dimensions may be needed with the company logo. You can grab a couple of random images for the logo's for now.
My wife came up with a basic structure that we both like. It's kind of based of this websites structure minus the slow loading flash graphics. My MS Paint Version.
Internal Pages - See my MS Paint version
As stated each of the four main sections will have an internal area. With multiple sub pages (so a sub menu is needed).
Include a couple of paragraphs of text and a sub heading or two.
I would also like the style for a form designed also. I'm not looking for anything too fancy just some ideas of font/backgrounds (if needed) etc for the form. Once I have a basic style I can massage it into what I need down the track.
Design the site for a minimum resolution of 1024 and still look ok on 1280 wide.
I'd prefer no pictures of people - Seriously, I don't want to see someone in a business suite standing around a table. I'm not sure we need any additional images as "filler" space.
No Flash - No Music.
